The Story
Sim Racing, H-Pattern Shifter, Logitech G Racing Series
Logitech G RS H-Shifter
Every Gear Change Feels Real.
The Logitech G RS H-Shifter is a long-overdue upgrade to the iconic Driving Force Shifter, built for sim racers who demand precision, durability and real-world feel. A 7+R H-pattern gate, Hall-effect contactless sensors, weighted shift knob, push-down lockout for 7th and reverse, and cross-platform compatibility with PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox, straight out of the box.
RS Racing Series
RS H-Shifter.
The successor to the Driving Force Shifter
Years in the making, the RS H-Shifter addresses every durability, feel and customisation complaint about its predecessor. Replacing the old potentiometer sensors with Hall-effect technology, upgrading the construction to aluminium and steel internals, and adding a real push-down lockout for 7th and reverse, Logitech G has built a shifter worthy of a serious sim rig.
- Hall-effect sensors detect gear position through magnetic fields with no physical contact, eliminating the missed shifts and sensor wear that plagued the older Driving Force Shifter.
- Aluminium, steel and plastic construction throughout, built to withstand long, intense sessions on desk or rig.
- Weighted shift knob with a satisfying mechanical feel on every gear change.
- Part of the Logitech G Racing Series ecosystem alongside the RS50 Wheel, RS Pedals and RS Handbrake.
Why RS H-Shifter
Precision, durability and real gear feel.
Hall-effect contactless sensors
The RS H-Shifter detects every gear position through magnetic field changes rather than physical contact, so there is no potentiometer wear, no drift and no missed shifts over time. It is the most significant technical leap over the old Driving Force Shifter.
7+R H-pattern gate with push-down lockout
A full 6+2 gate layout with push-down lockout on 7th gear and reverse to prevent accidental engagement during fast gear changes. The lockout mimics real manual transmissions and is essential for GT, rally and drift racing where accidental reversal or over-shifting can end a race.
Weighted knob and tactile mechanical feel
A weighted shift knob delivers satisfying push-through actuation that replicates the feel of a real gear change on every shift, giving you the confidence to push through corners and nail the right gear every time.
M8 aftermarket knob compatibility
The standard M8x1.25mm thread accepts a huge range of aftermarket shift knobs and shaft extenders, so you can personalise the feel, height and look of the shifter for your cockpit and driving style.
USB direct to PC, no wheel required
The RS H-Shifter connects directly to your PC via USB as a standalone device, so you can use it with any PC sim racing setup regardless of which wheel you own. No adapter required for PC.
Desk clamp and rig mount included
The heavy-duty included table clamp secures the shifter to a desk edge or sim rig, and can also stack with the RS Handbrake (sold separately) so both units clamp in the same position. Bolt mounting points are also included for permanent rig installation.
Cross-platform compatibility
Works on PC via USB direct, and on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via a compatible Logitech G wheel. Console use requires the Logitech G Racing Adapter when using G-Series wheels (sold separately). Compatible with the RS50 and PRO wheels without an adapter.
Gate system
Push down to engage 7th and reverse.
6+2 gate with push-down lockout
Prevents accidental selection
The RS H-Shifter uses a 6+2 gate layout, six forward gears in the standard H-pattern plus a push-down gate for both 7th gear and reverse. To engage either, you push the knob down before moving it into position, exactly as you would in a real car. This prevents accidental 7th-gear selection during a 5th-to-6th upshift, and stops the kind of corner-ruining accidental reverse that haunts sim racers on the older Driving Force Shifter.
- Six forward gears in a true H-pattern layout.
- Push down for 7th and reverse, just like a real gearbox.
- No accidental 7th or reverse on a quick 5-to-6 upshift.
Mounting
Desk, rig, or stacked with the RS Handbrake.
Three mounting options, one clamp
Included hardware covers all setups
The heavy-duty metal and plastic table clamp included in the box fits most desk edges and sim rig extrusions. For permanent installation, bolt mounting points let you fix the shifter directly to a rig chassis. The clamp is also designed to accommodate both the RS H-Shifter and the RS Handbrake side by side, so you can stack both units in one position without extra hardware.
- Heavy-duty desk clamp included, fits most desks and rig extrusions.
- Bolt-mount points for a permanent rig installation.
- Stacks with the RS Handbrake side by side, no extra hardware.
Compatibility
Works across PC and console.
The RS H-Shifter is compatible with the following platforms and wheels:
- PC, direct USB (any wheel)
- Logitech G RS50 Wheel
- Logitech G PRO Wheel
- PS5 and PS4 via G-Series wheel + Logitech G Racing Adapter
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via G-Series wheel + Logitech G Racing Adapter

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Logitech wheel to use the RS H-Shifter?
Not on PC. The RS H-Shifter connects directly to a Windows PC via USB as a standalone device, so it works with any sim racing setup regardless of which wheel you own. On console, use requires a compatible Logitech G wheel.
What is the push-down lockout and why does it matter?
The lockout requires you to push the shift knob down before you can engage 7th gear or reverse. This mimics a real manual transmission and prevents accidental selection of either gate during fast shifts, which is one of the most common frustrations on H-pattern shifters without a lockout.
Can I fit an aftermarket shift knob?
Yes. The RS H-Shifter uses an M8x1.25mm thread, which is compatible with the vast majority of aftermarket shift knobs on the market. Shaft extenders are also supported if you want to adjust the throw height.
Does it work on PS5, PS4 or Xbox?
Yes, but console use requires a connection to a compatible Logitech G wheel. With the RS50 or PRO Wheel, no adapter is needed. With older G-Series wheels (G29, G920, G923) or on console, the Logitech G Racing Adapter or RS Adapter is required (sold separately). On console, gear support may be limited to 6+R depending on the specific wheel and game.
Can I use it alongside the RS Handbrake?
Yes. The included desk clamp is designed to accommodate both the RS H-Shifter and the RS Handbrake side by side, so you can mount both in one compact position without additional hardware. The RS Handbrake is sold separately.
Is there a sequential mode?
No, the RS H-Shifter is an H-pattern only unit. If you need sequential shifting, it is best achieved using paddles on your steering wheel, or a dedicated sequential shifter.
What sims is it compatible with?
Any sim that supports H-pattern shifter input, including Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa EVO, Dirt Rally 2.0, EA Sports WRC, Forza Horizon, iRacing, rFactor 2 and more on PC, and compatible titles on PS5, PS4 and Xbox.
What warranty and returns cover the RS H-Shifter?
It's covered by Logitech's 2-year limited hardware warranty. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind return: item in original, unused condition with all packaging and accessories, refund less return shipping and a 5% handling fee. Full Australian Consumer Law protection applies. Call 0488 385 870 with any questions.
Do you ship to all of Australia? How long does delivery take?
Yes, we ship Australia-wide from our Queensland warehouse. Same-day or next business day dispatch. Delivery typically takes 2-8 business days depending on location. Call 0488 385 870 for current stock and express options.
